Futatsumori Shell Mounds(Futatsumorikaizuka) is one of the largest shell mounds in Aomori Prefecture,
where our ancestors lived about 5,500 to 4,000 years ago.
It is also a component of the "Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan"
which was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 27, 2021.
Part of the site has been developed as a historic park, featuring two restored "pit houses," a vegetation environment called the "Jomon Forest," walking paths, and an information center.
